Discover the Serenity of Bhandardara: A Perfect Weekend Getaway

As the long weekend draws near, we, like many of you, started brainstorming for a quick getaway close to Pune. These days, the urge to travel is universal, but with that comes the challenge of overcrowded tourist spots. Popular places like Mahabaleshwar, Konkan, and Goa tend to be packed during long weekends, which can take away from the relaxation we all seek.

While scrolling through my wishlist—where I usually jot down interesting destinations I've come across on Facebook, Instagram reels, or through friends—Anandvan Resorts in Bhandardara caught my eye. It seemed like the perfect fit! Not only was Bhandardara easily accessible from Pune, but it also worked out well since some family members were joining us from Jalgaon. Conveniently, it was a midpoint for both groups, making it an ideal choice for our weekend retreat.

If you craving an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life? Looking for the perfect spot to unwind this weekend? Let Bhandardara be your destination. Nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats, this serene hill station offers a refreshing break, brimming with natural beauty and peaceful landscapes.

Why Visit Bhandardara?

Bhandardara is a hidden gem in Maharashtra, surrounded by the majestic Sahyadri ranges. Known for its lush greenery, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque vistas, it offers an ideal retreat for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

One of the prime attractions here is Arthur Lake, a vast expanse of pristine backwaters fed by the Pravara River. This tranquil spot is perfect for a leisurely boat ride, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills. Whether you’re taking a peaceful walk along the shoreline or simply relaxing by the water, the calm atmosphere will rejuvenate your senses.

Bhandardara is also home to Randha Falls and Umbrella Falls, two of the most spectacular waterfalls in the region. The monsoon season transforms these waterfalls into roaring cascades, making it a photographer’s paradise. If you're visiting during the right season, you'll also witness a dazzling display of fireflies in the forests, which light up the night in a magical glow.

Stay in Comfort and Style

For your stay, consider booking a room at Anandvan Resort, one of Bhandardara’s most premium accommodations. Though on the pricier side, Anandvan offers an exquisite experience with its luxurious rooms, top-notch amenities, and unparalleled views of the Sahyadri ranges. The resort's beautiful surroundings, coupled with its peaceful ambiance, make it an ideal choice for those looking to relax in comfort after a day of exploration.

If you're seeking a more budget-friendly option, there are also cozy homestays and guesthouses that provide a charming, rustic feel, allowing you to connect more intimately with nature.

Activities to Enjoy

Beyond its scenic beauty, Bhandardara offers a range of activities for the adventurous soul. Trekking to Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra, is a must for hikers. The trek offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys, making it a rewarding experience. Another popular trek is to Ratangad Fort, which provides a glimpse into Maharashtra's rich history along with breathtaking views of the Sahyadris.

For the less adventurous, simply exploring the serene countryside and enjoying the fresh air is a delightful way to spend the weekend. The quiet, unspoiled charm of Bhandardara makes it a wonderful place for introspection and relaxation.
