I first caught glimpses of Hampi through a YouTube video 4 or 5 years ago, and since then, visiting it had been on my bucket list. Call it jinxed, but every time I made plans, they were canceled for one reason or another.
But 2021 turned out to be the year my dream finally came true. Hampi, the city of ruins, the land that fuels wanderlust—it holds many names, but its vibe is truly unique. The vast landscapes, massive boulders, serene paddy fields, the beautiful Tungabhadra River, and the grand ruins of temples and palaces spark your imagination, making you wonder what royal life in the Vijayanagara Empire must have been like. The mythological stories woven into Hampi’s history are equally captivating.
While I was thrilled by the endless photo opportunities, I soon realized that no camera could truly capture the scale and beauty of this place. It’s impossible to do justice to the magnificence of Hampi through a lens.
Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing some of the photos I managed to click. I hope you’ll enjoy them. As I read on a T-shirt while there: “Don’t worry, be Hampi.”
Stay tuned—there’s lots of info and amazing pictures of Hampi coming your way!
